A vast warehouse on the edge of Stratford-upon-Avon is home to RSC's Scenic Workshop where the majority of the Company's sets and props start to come alive.

The role of the Carpenters and Scenic Artists is to manufacture and carry out the pre-assembly and on-site installation of all timber constructed scenery for RSC.

About the placement


The Scenic Workshop workload varies throughout the year and also from production to production. Under supervision of a trained professional the successful candidate will have an opportunity to assist in the pre-assembly of timber constructed scenery.

Criteria


We are looking for applicants who are committed to a career in scenic construction.

Essential attributes:

  • Strong carpentry and joinery skills
  • Experience of using woodworking machinery/tools
  • The ability to work on one’s own initiative and within a team
  • Due to Health and Safety regulations candidates must be 18 years or older.

Desirable attributes:

  • Be a graduate, or be studying towards a carpentry related qualification
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety at Work Act and its implications in a workshop environment
  • Knowledge of the skills, techniques and tools used in scenery construction
  • Flexible and adaptable approach.
