Matilda The Musical wins the Evening Standard's Best Musical Award.

Directed by Matthew Warchus, the musical version of Roald Dahl's story was written by Dennis Kelly and award-winning musician and comedian Tim Minchin.

Matthew, Dennis and Tim were all on hand to collect the Ned Sherrin Award for Best Musical at the 57th Evening Standard Awards in London on Sunday (20 November).

The star-studded ceremony took place at London's Savoy Hotel, hosted by Dame Edna Everage, alter-ego of comedian Barry Humphries.

This follows last month's Theatre Awards UK in which Matilda The Musical won Best Musical Production and Best Performance in a Musical went to Bertie Carvel's Miss Trunchbull.

The Royal Shakespeare Company's world premiere production of Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical opened at the Cambridge Theatre in London in October.
