The Dell
Record-breaking audience numbers come to free open air performances
The season of outdoor theatre at The Dell came to an end this weekend, with a performance of Henry V by BMH Productions.
This is the fourth year running that the company brought its theatre to the RSC's outdoor venue, as part of the Open Stages project. Past successes have included A Shakespeare Abridged and Romeo and Juliet.
Situated on the banks of the River Avon, near Holy Trinity Church, The Dell played host to 21 different theatre groups throughout the summer, from schools and universities to amateur and professional companies.
Record breaking audiences came to The Dell for performances of Gloucestershire Youth Players' The Taming of the Shrew and Ouds' A Midsummer Night's Dream, which both drew 450-500 spectators.
Other highlights included the Shooting Stars Theatre Company's Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth, performed in promenade by the RSC's newest ensemble of young actors after just two days of rehearsal!
