Last week we helped to launch Shakespeare's England – the new tourism organisation for Stratford-upon-Avon. It also covers Warwick, Kenilworth, Royal Leamington Spa and the surrounding area.
It also has a new website shakespeares-england.co.uk which contains information on holiday ideas, things to do and places to stay in the region.
We hosted the launch event at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon and welcomed around 150 local and regional tourism businesses and organisations who helped to mark the occasion.
Shakespeare's England is public-private, not-for-profit partnership set up by tourism businesses and cultural organisations in South Warwickshire and beyond, along with Stratford and Warwick District Councils. Its remit is to market and manage the area's visitor economy.
David Collins, our head of marketing and the chair of Shakespeare's England said: “It's a testament to the strength of feeling amongst tourism businesses in our region that so many people attended the launch of Shakespeare's England. Businesses large and small are passionate about promoting and managing this destination properly.”
A number of leading attractions across the region have already joined Shakespeare's England including us, Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, Warwick Castle and Kenilworth Castle. The organisation aims to increase its membership from all sectors of the tourism industry including hospitality and retail.
