RSC wins British Construction Industry award
The Royal Shakespeare Company was this week presented with a top award which recognises excellence in building and civil engineering projects.
The Company received the British Construction Industry's Major Project Award for projects over £50m.
The award was presented at a ceremony hosted by BBC News presenter Huw Edwards in Grosvenor House, London, and attended by more than 900 of the biggest construction industry names.
RSC Executive Director Vikki Heywood said: 'The transformation project has been a huge achievement involving a large group of people from many different specialisms.
'I'm delighted that we've won the award which recognises the team work and dedication of those involved and the pleasure our audiences have enjoyed in the transformation of our Stratford-upon-Avon home.'
In deciding the outcome of the awards, the judges took into consideration a range of criteria including:
- Client satisfaction, value for money, the quality of design and construction,
- Fitness for purpose, originality, benefit to the community
- Efficient use of materials and labour, energy saving, appearance and environmental harmony
The British Construction Industry Award is one of a series of accolades the RSC has received this year for the ambitious transformation project, including the RIBA Construction Client of the Year award, also announced this month.
