Matilda The Musical and Julius Caesar open in New York
This was a big week for us in New York as we opened Matilda The Musical on Broadway and Julius Caesar in Brooklyn.
Julius Caesar has its press night today (Friday) at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), with a community chorus drawn from the local Brooklyn area.
Matilda The Musical opened last night (Thursday) at the Shubert Theatre on Broadway.
Ben Brantley in the New York Times said: 'Rejoice, my theatergoing comrades. The children's revolution has arrived on these shores, and it is even more glorious than we were promised.
'Rush now, barricade stormers of culture, to the Shubert Theater, and join the insurrection against tyranny, television, illiteracy, unjust punishment and impoverished imaginations, led by a five-year-old La Pasionaria with a poker face and an off-the-charts IQ.'
He called it, 'the most satisfying and subversive musical ever to come out of Britain'.
