Live From Stratford-upon-Avon
Richard II will be our first production to play live in cinemas around the world and streamed, for free, direct into 1,000 UK schools.
We are working with Picturehouse Entertainment on 'Live From Stratford-upon-Avon', a new programme to screen our productions live from Shakespeare's home town.
The production, directed by our Artistic Director, Gregory Doran, with David Tennant in the title role, will be filmed during the performance in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre on 13 November.
It will be screened into more than 100 cinemas around the country and available in North America, Australia, Japan and Northern Europe.
Richard II will be the first of three Shakespeare plays to be filmed live during the next year – the next two titles will be announced in September.
The production will also be streamed direct into up to 1,000 schools on 15 November 2013, with help from Ravensbourne College and the Janet Network.
It will be accompanied by a live studio link-up hosted by Konnie Huq, and with members of the creative team, including Gregory Doran and David Tennant on hand to take part in a live online Q and A with participating students.
