Fit and Proper People casting
Director Steve Marmion has announced the cast for his forthcoming production, Fit and Proper People.
A new play set in the world of championship football, Fit and Proper People takes a hard look at our beautiful game.
Transforming the theatre into a football stadium with real turf, floodlights and constant media coverage, writer Georgia Fitch exposes the backstage dealings that manufacture our national heroes and addresses topical questions of who is running our social and cultural institutions.
Katy Stephens joins the cast of Fit and Proper People as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company Ensemble 2009 – 2011. Her credits include As You Like It, The Grain Store, King Lear, Antony and Cleopatra and the RSC New Work Season at Hampstead Theatre, 2011.
A Soho Theatre production in association with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the play also stars:
- Zahra Ahmadi – well known for playing Shabnam Masood in BBC's Eastenders, other credits include the 2010 film Tamara Drewe and Sisters (Sheffield Crucible)
- Mark Anthony Brighton best known for TV roles in Holby City, Silent Witness and The Bill
- Kerron Darby theatre credits include The Knowledge and Little Platoons (both Bush Theatre)
- Russell Floyd credits include Sir Courtly Nice (Royal Shakespeare Company), Going To A Party (National Theatre) and as a regular on ITV's The Bill and BBC's Eastenders
- Steven Hartley recent TV credits include ITV's Vera and BBC's Merlin, theatre credits include Bill Sikes in Oliver (Theatre Royal Drury Lane) and Dirty Dancing (Aldwych Theatre)
- David Yip theatre credits include Turandot (Hampstead Theatre) and King Lear (Yellow Earth/Royal Shakespeare Company)
Fit and Proper People opens for previews at Soho Theatre on 7 October and will run until Saturday 5 November 2011.
