Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy and artist Stephen Raw unveil a new work on Shakespeare.

The Poet Laureate has written a new 14-line sonnet inspired by Shakespeare.

Commissioned by the RSC, the poem will have its first public reading in Stratford-upon-Avon on Thursday 29 November 2012.

The recital will be accompanied by the unveiling of a new artwork by the artist Stephen Raw, who has translated the verse into a series of seven paintings to be displayed in the foyer of the Swan Theatre.

The piece, entitled Shakespeare, is a personal homage to the playwright. It marks the close of this year's World Shakespeare Festival, which launched in April with a specially commissioned sonnet by RSC Writer in Residence Mark Ravenhill.

Carol Ann's reading of Shakespeare and the unveiling of Stephen's associated paintings will take place in the Swan Bar in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre at 6pm on Thursday 29 November.

The poem will be published on the RSC website, and limited edition prints of the work, signed by Carol Ann and Stephen, will be available to buy in the shop from Friday.
