The RSC has received awards for its IT department and for the theatre Transformation.

The company's IT team has won the IT Department of the Year Award at British Computer Society/Computing Magazine Awards.

Head of IT Chris O'Brien said: 'We had an exceptional year last year, carrying out more new IT implementations than would normally be sensible, whilst ensuring that all existing systems continued to function.

'Working in an area of the organisation that is usually more noticed when it goes wrong than when it is going well, I can honestly say I was ecstatically happy to see the team get industry wide recognition of their achievements.'

And the Transformation of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre also received an award this week.

Simon Erridge, Architect from Bennetts Associates collected the Cultural Building prize for the 3R (Refurb Rethink Retrofit) awards, on behalf of the project.

The Cultural Building prize is awarded for a retrofit or refurbishment project carried out on a cultural building or facility. It marks a project that sets new standards in this area and is a model for similar projects.
