Rooftop Restaurant's April celebrations

The month of April is shaping up to be a festival of 'Britishness' for the RSC which, as well as kicking off its 50th Birthday season with a highly anticipated production of Macbeth, is marking upcoming calendar events in its Rooftop Restaurant with new introductions to its modern British menu.

'Eat like the Queen' – to celebrate the birthday of the RSC's Patron Queen Elizabeth II on 21st April, and her recent visit during which she enjoyed lunch in the Rooftop Restaurant, Head Chef Nick Funnell is adding the specially created dish of Dorset Sole with salmon mousse, spring cabbage and hollandaise sauce to the menu. The dish will be available for the month of April, priced at £19.95.

Mother's Day Afternoon Tea – the Rooftop Restaurant is introducing a traditional afternoon tea starting on Mother's Day, Sunday 3 April. Customers can relax over a selection of sandwiches filled with the best of British produce, handmade cakes, scones with clotted cream and preserves plus a pot of Fairtrade organic tea from the London Tea Company for £9.95/person (£19.95/person with a glass of award-winning English sparkling wine Ridgeview Grosvenor Blanc de Blancs '07).

Family Easter Lunch – over the Easter weekend of April 22nd – 25th, families can enjoy the best of fresh, seasonal British ingredients at Sunday lunch with an added extra: children eating at the table will be presented with a special chocolate treat.

'Kiss Me Kate' Cocktail – in celebration of the Royal Wedding on 29th April and taking inspiration from Kate Middleton's popularity as an English rose, Bar Manager Rob Hall has created a bespoke cocktail including rhubarb puree, Calvados and English sparkling rosé Fitzrovia by the Ridgeview vineyard in Ditchling, East Sussex. The cocktail's name is a reference to Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew (“Kiss me, Kate, we shall be married o'Sunday” Act II, Scene VII)
Priced at £10.95, the cocktail is available throughout the month of April.

With the above events, and St George's Day and Shakespeare's Birthday both on the 23rd April, this is surely a month to eat, drink and be merry, celebrating all things British in Stratford-upon-Avon.
