Lady Susie Sainsbury

Susie is Deputy Chairman of the Royal Shakespeare Company and Chairman of RSC America, Inc.

She chaired the rebuilding of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, the construction of the Courtyard Theatre and the 2015 reconstruction of The Other Place from the shell of the Courtyard Theatre.

Susie began her career in the international sales division of Oxford University Press before joining Jonathan Cape, where she worked first as Editor and then Commissioning Editor for its educational division, Jackdaw Publications.

She is Deputy Chairman of the Royal Academy of Music and a Fellow of the Royal
Society of Arts, and Hon Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects, also of the Royal Academy of Music.

She is a member of the International Advisory Council and the Dean's Council of the School of Arts at Columbia University, New York, Susie is a member of the Sir Harold Acton Society of New York University. She is also a member of the James Madison Council of the Library of Congress, Washington DC.

In 2010 she was awarded a CBE for services to the arts, and in 2014 she received the Prince of Wales' Medal for Arts Philanthropy.
