The beginnings
As a celebration of Shakespeare as the world's playwright, the World Shakespeare Festival reached out across the world, bringing arts and artists together in the UK and online.
Thousands of artists and more than 70 art organisations took part from Brazil, China, Iraq, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Spain, Tunisia, the USA and across the UK.
